There are many companies eager to sell you products and programs to lose weight: meal replacement shakes, ready-to-eat meals, supplements, even weight loss prescription drugs. However, they are guilty of making many mistakes in weight loss and health, mistakes that yield only transient weight loss, do not address underlying causes of weight gain, and can actually CAUSE health problems.

Effective weight loss is actually quite straightforward, easy, and inexpensive and should NOT involve cutting calories, hunger, or meal replacements. It should involve real food, nutritional supplements not targeted to weight loss but to reversing insulin resistance, and efforts to re-establish healthy bowel flora.
